What's Cookin': sent to Crystal and little E

I had plans to post this later, after going to see Meet the Robinsons...well, I'm home now. Wanna know why? My lovely child threw a fit screaming he wanted to go home and cried for the first 20 minutes! So I dragged him out of the theater. He was fine at first! He was excited to see the movie, loved watching the previews, then he went nuts-o and cried that he wanted to go home and he wanted me to cover his eyes and ears?? I just wasted $25!! If anyone sees it, let me know what's it's like for the remaining hour and 10 minutes...grr!

Ok, so the reason for this post! Here's what I sent my What's Cookin swap partner. Mind you the deadline was April 6th but she had it in her hands at the end of February because I didn't know how long I'd stay in Texas (plus I'm always REALLY early to send anyway). I was so excited to create for E and her momma! I love making things for little girls! Jerrett and I picked out the fabric an he suggested what we s hould make for them! Here's a bunch of pictures of what we sent!

100_3398_2The recipes:

doughnuts made from canned biscuit dough (my mom used to make these for me)
"dog food" (chocolate/peanut butter covered Chex cereal)
chewy chocolate chip cookies (a la alton brown)
chicken and rice-a-roni casserole
silly goo (found at DIY network)

100_3396All these recipes, plus a few blank cards, were put into a recipe "book" that I created from leftover fabric, ribbon, and binder rings...that way when E gets a little older she can write her own recipes down in her own book.

100_3407 Placemat roll. You roll it up with the silverware inside.

100_3406

Drawing paper, crayons, and a little matching tote to carry it all in.

100_3395 Fleece bluebird softie that I made to match the little birdie in the fabric.

100_3402E sized headband from this pattern.

100_3411What it looked like all wrapped up and rady to mail! The paper was freezer paper...I forgot to mention to Crystal that it was freezer paper; when I did remember it was already in the recycle bin! Oops!

AND the most important part of this swap is the apron! I used this pattern using the striped fabric for the inside and the tree/bird print on the front. For some reason I can't find the picture I have of it...it's on my other computer and I'm too lazy to go get it...you can view the apron and the goodies here.
